- Our Staff

SPG's staff members are dedicated and educated individuals who share the same goal: to ensure the safety and enjoyment of every child in our care. All are first aid certified and participate in related professional development courses of their own interest.

Executive Director

Diana Bennett - B.A. Diana's background in the school-aged child care field extends back more than 20 years. She is an inventive coordinator and an effective team leader. She promotes the centre within the community and advocates for child care improvements.

Primary Coordinator

Luz Nelly George - School-Age Certificate Luz Nelly (Lucy) creates a Kindercare program that encourages self-awareness in the youngsters she teaches. Using the framework of the Twelve Values, she emphasizes the importance of self-respect and respect for others in her age-appropriate program.

Intermediate Programmer

Nina Kioussis Nina's laugh has been compared to the tinkling of little bells...but just wait until she gets going! She has a brilliant sense of humour that can be appreciated by all ages. No one has more fun than she does with our young members.

Art Programmer

Fannie Liu This VSB School Support Worker has a background in design and arts which she has employed throughout her years of work with children. She is an avid sports-person and is always willing to be the extra player.

Morning Supervisors and Snack Ladies (making, not eating)

Stephanie Sproston An active mother of five children (and three grandchildren), Stevie has brought a wealth of child-rearing experience and a nurturing demeanor to the centre. She always finds a way to get every child involved in the fun.
Judi Loreth

Judi’s work as a VSB Supervision Aid and raising her own family have only improved her sense of humour.

Out Of School Care Staff

Iris Wang - ECE Diploma Iris has spent the past ten years in Taiwan working with children in both educational and recreational settings. She brings her infectious laugh and creative energies to our Out of School Care program to the great benefit of our members.
Anthony Chang

As a martial artist and the newest member of SPG, Anthony has learned patience is the key to not only enlightenment but also working with kids. He’s excited to start off his position at SPG where he’ll finally begin as Mr.Miyagi rather than having to work his way up from the karate kid.

Andrea Mathys

Even with only a year as part of the SPG team, Andrea has shown she is a natural when it comes to working with kids. Patience, patience and what? Even more patience.

Christopher Lee In his quest to become a Ninja Turtle as a child, Chris decided to pick up martial arts.  However, he was unable to attain the secret ooze needed to mutate himself into turtle form and his dreams were crushed.  To cope, he spent four years studying psychology and completing the Education Program at UBC and has a new dream...to become a teacher (which he now is). Way to go Chris!
Vivian Leung Vivian began her career at SPG at the age of six. She enjoyed her time here so much she is still coming back for more - albeit, we can only get in her to come in on swim days!
